Question 144

If the number of calories burned by A and B increased by 10% and 20% respectively from Friday to Saturday, what was the total number of calories burned by them together on Saturday?

Solution

Number of calories burned by A on Friday = 180

=> Number of calories burned by A on Saturday = $$180 + \frac{10}{100} \times 180 = 198$$

Number of calories burned by B on Friday = 145

=> Number of calories burned by B on Saturday = $$145 + \frac{20}{100} \times 145 = 174$$

$$\therefore$$ Total number of calories burned by them together on Saturday = 198 + 174

= $$372$$
