The radius of a circle is 13 cm and XY is a chord which is at a distance of 12 cm from the centre. The length of the chord is :

Solution

Let the Chord be AB . Centre be O . Mid point of AB be 'M'.
OA= radius = 13 . OM = 12.
OMA forms a right angle triangle .
AM= $$\sqrt{13^2-12^2}$$ = 5
AB = 2*AM = 10
