A man takes 6 km. distance to go around the rectangular area. If the area of the rectangle is 2 sq. km., find the difference between length and breadth.
Let length of rectangle be 'l' m.
Let breadth of rectangle be 'b' m.
According to question,
2(l+b)=6
l+b=3. (eq 1)
and lb=2. (eq 2)
Solving above equations we get,
l=2 and b=1.
Hence length and breadth of rectangle are 2 km and 1 km correspondingly.
Difference between length and breadth$$=2-1=1$$ km.
Hence, Option C is correct.
