A fraction becomes $$\frac{4}{5}$$ if 1 is added to both numerator and denominator. However if 5 is subtracted from both numerator and denominator the fraction becomes $$\frac{1}{2}$$, then the fraction is

Solution

Let the fraction be x/y

Given, $$\frac{\left(x+1\right)}{y+1}=\frac{4}{5}$$

$$\frac{\left(x-5\right)}{y-5}=\frac{1}{2}$$

Solving both the equation, we get x=7 and y=9
