Each of the questions given below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements is sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements.
Give answer a: if the data in statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
Give answer b: if the data in statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
Give answer c: if the data in statement I alone or in statement II alone is sufficientto answer the question.
Give answer d: if the data in both the statements I and II is not sufficient to answer the question.
Give answer e: if the data in both the statements I and II together is necessary to answer the question.
What is the two digit positive number?
I. Sum of the two digits of the number is 8.
II. Sum of the two digits is 3 more than the higher digit.
I : Sum of digits of the number = 8
=> Number = 17,26,35,44...
$$\because$$ There is no unique answer. Thus, I alone is insufficient.
II : Sum of the digits is 3 more than the higher digit.
E.g. Number = 36 => Sum of digits = 9 and higher digit = 6
Similarly, numbers = 36,63,35,43...
Thus, II alone is insufficient.
I & II : Combining the two cases,
The possible numbers are = 35 , 53
Still we do not have any unique answer.
Thus, even I & II together are not sufficient.
