An empty pool being filled with water at a constant rate takes 8 hours to fill 3/5 th of its capacity. How much more time will it take to finish filling the pool ?

Solution

Let the volume of pool is V
For $$\frac{3}{5}$$V, time= 8hrs
For remaining capacity, $$\frac{2}{5}$$V, time=t
Using unitary method,
$$\frac{3/5}{2/5} = \frac{8}{t}$$

t=5$$\frac{1}{3}$$


or t= 5hours 20minutes
