A man sells three motors for ₹5,400, ₹3,300 and ₹4,350 respectively. He makes 20% profit on the first and 10% profit on the second but on the whole, he loses 75/8%. What did the third motor car cost him ?
Let us assume the cost prices of 1st, 2nd and 3rd motors to be A, B and C respectively.
According to the question, A*1.2 = 5400 ==> A = 4500.
Similarly, B*1.1 = 3300 ==> B = 3000.
Total Selling Prices = 5400 + 3300 + 4350 = 13050 and he suffered a loss of 75/8 i.e. 9.375% on it.
So, Total CP * (1 - 9.375%) = 13050 ==> Total Cost Price = 14400.
Also, A + B + C = 14400 ==> C = 14400 - 4500 - 3000 ==> C = 6900.
