Converting to improper fractions, $$2\frac{1}{3} = \frac{7}{3}$$ and $$4\frac{4}{7} = \frac{32}{7}$$. The difference is $$\frac{32}{7} - \frac{7}{3} = \frac{96 - 49}{21} = \frac{47}{21} = 2\frac{5}{21}$$.
