Vaibhav was writing the cat exam . there were four passages of equal length and they had 5, 8, 8 and 6 questions respectively. he can answer exactly 12 question in time he takes to read any one of the four passages. assume that his rate of reading and answering questions remains the same across all the four passages. by what % should he increase his speed in order to cutdown his time by 10%

Let the rate of reading be S1 and time be t for the first case
Here, S1 * t = 12 (questions)
Now , as the time needs to be cutdown by 10 % , we have a new equation just like the above one as
S2 * 0.9t =12 (S2 = new rate of reading)
Comparing the two equations , we arrive at S2/S1 =10/9 which corresponds to 11.11% increase in the reading speed required
