The average of five consecutive numbers is m. If the next two numbers are also included, how shall the average vary?

The average of five numbers m-2,m-1,m,m+1,m+2 is m. When, the next two numbers are added the numbers are m-2,m-1,m,m+1,m+2,m+3,m+4 the average is (7m+7)/7=m+1.

So, I shall increase by 1.

There is an error in the options, even in the official exam. We can't resolve it.

In the first 10 overs of a cricket game, the run rate was only 3.2. What should be the run rate in the remaining 40 overs to reach the target of 282 runs?

The number of runs scored in the first 10 overs is 32. The total total required runs is 282.

So the remaining runs to be scored in 40 overs is 282. So the required run rate is 250/40=6.25.
