Hi, I recently took dashcat 1 and 2 , although i scored not much 77, 79 to be precise but my percentile was 95+ , Is it because these were live quite a while ago when candidates start their preparation.

Hi 77 and 79 is a good score considering the level of DC- 1 and 2, in actual CAT also this would fetch a 95 to 96 percentile. However we have time and I would advise you to analyze the mocks very well identify the type of mistakes you did and work on them accordingly and try to improve your score as much as you can . 76 marks did get around 95 percentile in cat 2020.

Hi We have word RACKET The total words that can be formed = 6!=720 Now we have to find the 104th term from end so 720+(n-1)d =720+(103)(-1)=617 so we have to find 617th word from start Now we will start alphabetically So we will fix A so we will get 5! words =120 words Now C,K,E,T will also give 5!=120 words so total 600 words will be completed till we finish R NOw 601st words will be starting from T and it will be TACEKT Now We will fix TA so CEKT can be arranged in 4! ways so we will get 24 words now total becomes 600+24=624 but we want 617 so we can conclude the 2nd letter will be A Now we will fix TAC so KER will be arranged in 3! ways =6 ways so we get 606 words Now we will fix TAE so we will again get 6 ways Now we have reached till 612. Now we will fix TAK so CER will be arranged in 6 ways again and we will reach to total 618 words so 618th word will be TAKREC Now we need 617th word so in 617th E and C will interchange their position so we get 617th word as TAKRCE

How do percentiles here translate to CAT percentiles? Any idea? Or scores even

Hi Soham. I understand that you want to know the percentile you can expect if you are getting a certain percentile in the mock. I will try to explain how your percentile could be affected:1. Performance: The most important factor is your performance. All speculations would fail if you perform well/worse on the CAT day. A person scoring percentile in the 80s could have a good day, and score 99+ percentile, and vice versa. Some are unable to perform under the pressure of a real exam. To counter this, try to simulate the CAT environment while giving mocks, so nerves don't get the best of you on the CAT day.2. The number of test-takers: The number of test-takers increases significantly, as many candidates do not attempt mocks. A Rank of 70 among 10000 test-takers translates into 99.3+, and in 2.3 lakh candidates, it would fetch one a 99.9+ percentile.3. Quality of test-takers: The aspirants who give mocks are serious aspirants. Scoring a decent percentile among them would mean that your percentile would be better when there are non-serious students who have given zero mocks.This is a question that arises in almost every aspirant's mind. But the best way forward is to not speculate, but improve. It is not wise to form huge expectations from the paper if you are scoring well in mocks, nor is it wise to become dejected when you are not. Just try to give your all on the CAT day. All the best.

I know how to calculate percentiles, that's not what I am asking. My bad on asking about how the score translates, it looks like a stupid question in hindsight. I am asking for more of a rule of thumb, how does percentiles here translate to Cat percentile range. Just to get an idea.

I am unable to score more than 55 in mocks

HiThe most important thing one should follow to improve mock scores is to spend time on analysis of mocks. You have to identify your weak areas and your strengths by giving mocks and sectionals and identify where are you losing marks and try to work on them accordingly. And 52 days are enough to improve upon your weak areas.Try to analyze the mock very well if you are getting carried away by attempts reduce the attempts if you are losing marks in RC practice RC's , If you are picking wrong sets give more and more sectionals of LRDI ,if you are spending too much time in quant in some questions try to set a limit of 1.5 minutes and leave the question immediately if getting stuck for more than 2 minutes , if you are missing on easy questions try reading every question of the paper especially in quants .These are the few things you should focus on and try giving more and more sectionals and if you wish you can experiment in sectionals and formulate a better strategy which you can implement in mock . Just Hang in there scores will improve.All The Best

dont worry guys , i havent scored more than 60 in lrdi last year in mocks but at the cat day , if you get your basics right and keep calm you will score , i ended upwith 96 , ...... chill , just keep working.

Hi, what strategys can I adopt in the paper to maximise my marks/attempts in QA section?

Hi To improve speed in quants , see in quant you can follow round approach and you should identify all sitters in your round 1 and attempt those, in every quant mock there will be around 40% of the questions that will be classified as easy , around 30-40 % questions that will be classified as medium and remaining 25-30% questions come under hard category . Your first target should always be to skim the entire paper in 20 minutes and solve the easy questions and in initial 20 minutes if you get stuck on a question for more than 1.5 minutes you should leave that question and move to the next one .Try to identify your strengths and then attempt medium level questions from that topics in the 2nd half of the paper as you will be more confident in questions from topics which are your strength. Try to give more sectionals from now and implement the round approach and try not getting stuck in a question for more than 2 minutes , speed building will take time so set realistic targets suppose if you were attempting 10 questions try to make 14 for 2 -3 sectionals then gradually increase attempts to 17-18.

Hey quant faculty of Cracku, While giving geometry topic test I am not able to spot the concept that should be applied and my brain shut down for a while whenever I see geometry question, however while viewing the solution it just takes 30s to grasp what the solution is and which concept is being applied, why am I dealing with such issue despite my concept being in place kindly provide action plan for the same

Hi Geometry involves relatively large number of concepts and formulas and one question involves multiple concepts at times. The only way to identify which concept will be used in which question is practice. You should solve all the study room questions of geometry starting from easy ones and gain confidence over them and then move to medium and hard level questions. Try to solve questions on your own and if you look at solution try to solve it again after looking at solution that will also help you to retain the concept better.

How many questions should I attempt in CAT mocks to get 90+ percentile?

Hi Percentile is a relative term and it depends on the level of the exam and how others have performed in the exam.
