A Sonar of a ship sends sounds waves of speed 1000 m/s. These waves are reflected back by the ocean floor in 2 seconds. Find the depth (in m) of the ocean floor.
Solution
Speed of sound waves = 1000 m/s
Using, distance = speed $$\times$$ time
= $$1000\times2=2000$$ m
But, this is the total distance travelled by the sound, so the depth is half of this.
=> Depth = $$\frac{2000}{2}=1000$$ m
=> Ans - (C)
