Question 93

9 Men working for 7 hours a day can complete a piece of work in 15 days. In how many days can 6 men working for 9 hours a day, complete the same piece of work ?

Solution

Using, $$\frac{M_1 \times D_1 \times H_1}{W_1} = \frac{M_2 \times D_2 \times H_2}{W_2}$$

Also, $$W_1 = W_2 = x$$ (let)

=> $$\frac{9 \times 15 \times 7}{x} = \frac{6 \times D_2 \times 9}{x}$$

=> $$15 \times 7 = 6 \times D_2$$

=> $$D_2 = \frac{105}{6} = \frac{35}{2}$$

=> $$D_2 = 17\frac{1}{2}$$ days
