A rectangular swimming pool of length 20 m and breadth 10 m has a uniformly sloping floor. It is 1 m in depth on one end of its length and 3 m at the other. How much water is needed to completely fill this pool? (Take π = 22/7)
The pool is 1 m in depth on one end of its length and 3 m at the other, thus the pool is in the shape of a trapezium whose volume will be equal to the product of area of trapezium and the width.
Length = 20 m and breadth = 10 m
=> Volume = $$(\frac{1}{2} \times (1+3) \times 20)\times 10$$
= $$40 \times 10 = 400$$ $$m^3$$
