Question 90

Point P is the midpoint of segment AB. Co-ordinates of point P are (2,1) and point A are (11,5). Co-ordinates of point B are

Solution

Coordinates of midpoint of line joining A = $$(x_1 , y_1)$$ and B = $$(x_2 , y_2)$$ is $$(\frac{x_1 + x_2}{2} , \frac{y_1 + y_2}{2})$$

P (2,1) is mid point of A (11,5) and B (x,y)

=> $$2 = \frac{x + 11}{2}$$

=> $$x = 4 - 11 = -7$$

Similarly, $$1 = \frac{y + 5}{2}$$

=> $$y = 2 - 5 = -3$$

$$\therefore$$ Coordinates of B = (-7,-3)

=> Ans - (A)
