Question 85

What are the coordinates of the centroid of a triangle, whose vertices are A(-2,5), B(4,4) and C(7,-3)?

Solution

Coordinates of centroid of triangle with vertices $$(x_1 , y_1)$$ , $$(x_2 , y_2)$$ and $$(x_3 , y_3)$$ is $$(\frac{x_1 + x_2 + x_3}{3} , \frac{y_1 + y_2 + y_3}{3})$$

Let coordinates of centroid G = $$(x , y)$$

Vertex A(-2,5) and Vertex B(4,4) and C = (7,-3)

=> $$x = \frac{-2 + 4 + 7}{3}$$

=> $$x = \frac{9}{3} = 3$$

Similarly, => $$y = \frac{5 + 4 - 3}{3}$$

=> $$y = \frac{6}{3} = 2$$

$$\therefore$$ Coordinates of centroid G = (3,2)

=> Ans - (D)
