Question 84

 If x - y = -8 and xy = 45, then ($$x^{2}+y^{2}$$)

Solution

Given : $$(x - y) = -8$$ and $$xy = 45$$

Using $$(x - y)^2 = x^2 + y^2 - 2xy$$

=> $$(-8)^2 = (x^2 + y^2) - (2 \times 45)$$

=> $$(x^2 + y^2) = 64 + 90 = 154$$

=> Ans - (A)
