What are the coordinates of the mid point of the segment joining points C(0,-3) and D(8,5)?

Solution

Coordinates of mid point of line joining points $$(x_1,y_1)$$ and $$(x_2,y_2)$$ = $$(\frac{x_1 + x_2}{2} , \frac{y_1 + y_2}{2})$$

Let coordinates of mid point $$(x , y)$$

C = (0,-3) and D = (8,5)

=> $$x = \frac{0 + 8}{2}$$

=> $$x = \frac{8}{2} = 4$$

Similarly, $$y = \frac{-3 + 5}{2}$$

=> $$y = \frac{2}{2} = 1$$

Thus, coordinates of mid point (4,1)
