Question 81

If x + 2(3-5x) > -1 - 2x < 5 - x/3; then the value of x is

Expression 1 : x + 2(3-5x) > -1 - 2x

=> $$x+6-10x$$ > $$-1-2x$$

=> $$9x-2x$$ < $$6+1$$

=> $$7x$$ < $$7$$

=> $$x$$ < $$1$$ -----------(i)

Expression 2 : -1 - 2x < 5 - x/3

=> $$2x-\frac{x}{3}$$ > $$-1-5$$

=> $$\frac{5x}{3}$$ > $$-6$$

=> $$x$$ > $$\frac{-18}{5}$$ ----------(ii)

Combining inequalities (i) and (ii), we get : $$\frac{-18}{5}$$ < $$x$$ < $$1$$

The only value that $$x$$ can take among the options = -3

=> Ans - (A)
