Question 8

Which two signs should be interchanged to make the following equation correct?
$$4 \times 5 - 24 \div 12 + 8 = 14$$

Solution

From the given pattern,

$$4 \times 5 - 24 \div 12 + 8 = 14$$

If we are interchangingĀ  $$+ and -$$

Then,Ā

$$\Rightarrow 4 \times 5 + 24 \div 12 - 8 = 14$$

$$\Rightarrow 4 \times 5 +2 - 8 = 14$$

$$\Rightarrow 20 +2 - 8 = 14$$

$$\Rightarrow 22 - 8 = 14$$

$$\Rightarrow 14 = 14$$
