Question 78

If 3x - 2(4 - 3x) < 2x - 5 < 3x + 3; then the value of x is

Solution

Expression 1 : 3x - 2(4 - 3x) < 2x - 5

=> $$3x-8+6x$$ < $$2x-5$$

=> $$9x-2x$$ < $$8-5$$

=> $$7x$$ < $$3$$

=> $$x$$ < $$\frac{3}{7}$$ -----------(i)

Expression 2 : 2x - 5 < 3x + 3

=> $$3x-2x$$ > $$-5-3$$

=> $$x$$ > $$-8$$ ----------(ii)

Combining inequalities (i) and (ii), we get : $$-8$$ < $$x$$ < $$\frac{3}{7}$$

The only value that $$x$$ can take among the options = 0

=> Ans - (D)
