Question 76

Of the 3 numbers whose average is 112, the first is 3/13 times the sum of other 2. The first number is _____.

Solution

Let the three numbers be $$x,y,z$$

Sum of three numbers = $$x + y + z = 112 \times 3 = 336$$

According to ques, => $$x = \frac{3}{13} \times (y + z)$$

=> $$x = \frac{3}{13} \times (336 - x)$$

=> $$13x = 1008 - 3x$$

=> $$13x + 3x = 16x = 1008$$

=> $$x = \frac{1008}{16} = 63$$
