Question 75

The radius of a circular wheel of a toy car is 56 mm. In how many revolutions can it cover a distance of 176 cm? [Use $$\pi = \frac{22}{7}$$]

Solution

The radius of a circular wheel of a toy car is 56 mm.

radius of a circular wheel of a toy car = 56 mm

= $$\frac{56}{10}$$ cm [We know that 1 cm = 10 mm]

= 5.6 cm

Circumference of a circular wheel of a toy car = $$2\times\ \pi\ \times\ radius$$

= $$2\times\ \frac{22}{7}\times5.6$$

= $$44\times0.8$$

= 35.2 cm

Number of revolutions when a distance of 176 cm is covered = $$\frac{total\ distance\ covered}{circumference}$$

= $$\frac{176}{35.2}$$

= $$\frac{1760}{352}$$

= 5
