Question 75

If 256, K, K, 81 are in proportion, and K is positive, then what is the value of K?

Solution

If 256, K, K, 81 are in proportion, and K is positive.

$$K \times K = 256\times81$$

$$K^2=16^2\times9^2$$ [There are two possible values of 'K'. One is positive and another one is negative. But the negative value of 'K' is not possible as per the information given in the question.]

K = $$16\times9$$

= 144
