Speed of man in still water = 12 km/hr and speed of current = 3 km/hr
Let distance covered = $$d$$ km
According to ques,
=> $$\frac{d}{(12-3)}-\frac{d}{(12+3)}=4$$
=> $$\frac{d}{9}-\frac{d}{15}=4$$
=> $$\frac{5d-3d}{45}=4$$
=> $$\frac{2d}{45}=4$$
=> $$d=\frac{45\times4}{2}=90$$ km
