Question 7

Weight of A and B are in the ratio 11 : 8. A’s weight increases by 40% and the total weight of A and B increases by 30%. What is the percentage increase in the B’s weight?

Solution

Let A's weight = $$11$$ kg and B's weight = $$8$$ kg

A's new weight after 40% increase = $$11\times\frac{140}{100}=15.4$$ kg

Similarly, total weight of (A+B) after 30% increase = $$19\times\frac{130}{100}=24.7$$ kg

=> B's new weight = $$24.7-15.4=9.3$$ kg

$$\therefore$$ increase in weight of B = $$\frac{(9.3-8)}{8}\times100=16.25\%$$

=> Ans - (B)
