Question 60

Three positive number are given.If the average of any two of them is added to the third number, the sums obtained are 172, 216 and 180. What is the average of the given three numbers?

Let the three numbers be $$x,y,z$$

According to ques, => $$(\frac{x+y}{2})+z=172$$ -------------(i)

$$(\frac{y+z}{2})+x=216$$ ------------(ii)

$$(\frac{z+x}{2})+y=180$$ --------------(iii)

Adding all the equations, we get : $$(\frac{2(x+y+z)}{2})+(x+y+z)=172+216+180$$

=> $$2(x+y+z)=568$$

Dividing both equations by 3, => $$\frac{(x+y+z)}{3}=\frac{284}{3}=94\frac{2}{3}$$

=> Ans - (C)
