A train passes the platform in 18 seconds and a man standing on the platform in 8 seconds. If the length of the train is 100 metres, the length of the platform is:
Given that the train crossed a man in 8 seconds.
Length of the train = 100 m
Then, Speed of the train = $$\dfrac{100}{8} = \dfrac{25}{2}$$ m/sec
Let the length of the platform be P m
$$\dfrac{100+P}{18} = \dfrac{25}{2}$$
=> $$\dfrac{100+P}{9} = 25$$
=> $$100+P = 225$$
=> $$P = 125$$
Therefore, The length of the platform = 125 m.
