Eight persons A, B, C, D, E , F, G and H are sitting around a circular table. 4 of them are facing towards the centre and 4 of them are facing away from the centre. Further, the following information is known:
B is sitting second to the left of both A and E. H is sitting to the immediate left of both A and B. A is facing the centre. D is sitting third to the right of E. G and E are not sitting adjacent to each other. H, D and G face the same direction (I.e, towards the centre or away from the centre). C is not sitting adjacent to G.
Who is sitting opposite to D?
B is sitting second to the left of both A and E. Therefore, one among A and E must be facing the centre and the other must be facing away from the centre. It has been given that A is facing the centre. Therefore, E must be facing away from the centre.
(In the diagram, the persons facing the centre are indicated by green colour and the persons facing away from the centre are indicated by the red colour).
H is sitting to the left of both A and B. Therefore, B must be facing away from the centre.
D is sitting third to the right of E. G and E are not sitting adjacent to each other. Therefore, G must be sitting near D. H,D and G face the same direction. We also know that 4 persons face towards the centre and 4 persons face away from the centre. B and E face away from the centre. Therefore, H, D and G must be facing the centre.
C is not sitting adjacent to G. Therefore, F must be sitting adjacent to D. The final arrangement is as follows:
C is sitting opposite to D. Therefore, option C is the right answer.
