Question 55

An engineering student has to secure 24% marks to pass. He gets 61 and fails by 29 marks. What is the maximum marks for that exam?

Let maximum marks = $$100x$$

=> Passing marks = $$\frac{24}{100} \times 100x = 24x$$

According to ques,

=> $$24x - 29 = 61$$

=> $$24x = 61 + 29 = 90$$

=> $$x = \frac{90}{24} = \frac{15}{4}$$

$$\therefore$$ Maximum marks = $$100 \times \frac{15}{4} = 25 \times 15 = 375$$

=> Ans - (A)
