The total salary of two employees, A and B, in an organisation was ₹40,000. After increasing the salary of A by 9% and of B by 11%, the total salary of A and B becomes ₹44,100. What was the initial salary of A?
The total salary of two employees, A and B, in an organisation was ₹40,000.
A+B = 40000
B = (40000-A) Eq.(i)
After increasing the salary of A by 9% and of B by 11%, the total salary of A and B becomes ₹44,100.
A of (100+9)% + B of (100+11)% = ₹44,100
A of 109% + B of 111% = ₹44,100
1.09A + 1.11B = 44100
Put Eq.(i) in the above equation.
1.09A + 1.11(40000-A) = 44100
1.09A + 44400 - 1.11A = 44100
44400 - 44100 = 1.11A - 1.09A
0.02A = 300
A = 15000
Initial salary of A = ₹15,000
