Question 51

In a simultaneous throw of a pair of dice, find the probability of getting a total more than 8?

We will have to count the cases where the sum of numbers rolled is greater than 8.
Sum is 9 ==>Β (3,6) (4,5) (5,4) (6,3)Β
Sum is 10 ==> (4,6) (5,5) (6,4)
Sum is 11 ==> (5,6) (6,5)
Sum is 12 ==> (6,6)
Total cases possible with sum greater than 8Β = 10.
Total rolls possible = 36.
Probability of getting a sum greater than 8 =Β $$\frac{10}{36}=\frac{5}{18}$$
