Calculate the length (in cm) of PQ. if the radius of the circle is 7 cm and the line through the centre 0 meets the tangent at point P such that OP = 25 cm.

Solution

Given : OQ = 7 cm and OP = 25 cm

To find : PQ = ?

Solution : In right $$\triangle$$ POQ

=> $$(PQ)^2=(OP)^2-(OQ)^2$$

=> $$(PQ)^2=(25)^2-(7)^2$$

=> $$(PQ)^2=625-49=576$$

=> $$PQ=\sqrt{576}=24$$ cm

=> Ans - (C)
