Question 46

P and Q enter into a partnership with investments of Rs.1400 and Rs.1800 respectively. They share half of the profit equally for running the business and the remaining profit in the ratio of their investments. If the difference in their shares of profits is Rs.47, what is the total profit?

Investments of P = Rs. 1400

Investments of Q = Rs. 1800

Profit share of P and Q = 1400 : 1800 = 7 : 9

The difference in their shares of profits = Rs.47

Difference in the ratio = 9 - 7 = 2 unit

$$\Rightarrow$$ 2 unit = 47

$$\Rightarrow$$ 1 unit = 23.5

Half profit = 7 + 9 = 16 unit = 16 $$\times$$ 23.5 = 376

Total profit = 376 $$\times$$ 2 = Rs.752
