Each question is provided with 4-alternative answers. One or more than one of them are correct answers. Indicate the correct answer by A,B,C,D.
The correct order of anions present for the following $$\text{CaC}_2$$, $$\text{Al}_4\text{C}_3$$, $$\text{Mg}_2\text{C}_3$$
Calcium carbide contains the acetylide ion $$\text{C}_2^{2-}$$. Aluminium carbide is a methanide containing $$\text{C}^{4-}$$ (it gives methane with water). $$\text{Mg}_2\text{C}_3$$ contains the allylide ion $$\text{C}_3^{4-}$$ (it gives propyne with water). So the order is $$\text{C}_2^{2-}$$, $$\text{C}^{4-}$$, $$\text{C}_3^{4-}$$.
