Question 3

The product of two numbers is 1575 and their quotient is $$\frac{9}{7}$$ Then the sum of the numberis

Solution

given, x*y = 1575 and x/y = 9/7.

So x = 9y/7

hence , (9y/7)*y = 1575

y^2 = (7/9)*1575 = 1225

y = (+/- 35.)

If y = 35, then x = 1575/35 = 45

. If y = -35, then x = -45.

So there are two solution sets, namely {45, 35} and {-45, -35)

And according to the options, the ans will be 45, 35.
