Question 21

A walks 5 km toward west. He turns right and walks 10 km. He again turns right and walks 15 km. how far (in km) is he from his starting point?

Let A starts from point A and walks 5 km toward west to reach point B. He turns right and walks 10 km to reach C. He again turns right and walks 15 km eastwards to finally stop at point D.

Thus, Distance AD = $$\sqrt{(10)^2+(15-5)^2}$$

= $$\sqrt{100+100}=\sqrt{200}=10\sqrt2$$ km

=> Ans - (A)
