Question 16

Two trains are moving in the same direction at the speed of 24 km/hr and 50 km/hr. The time taken by faster train to cross a man sitting in the slower train is 72 seconds. What will be the length (in metres) of the faster train?

Solution

Let length of faster train = $$l$$ m

The trains are moving in the same direction, thus relative speed = $$50-24=26$$ km/hr = $$(26\times\frac{5}{18})=\frac{65}{9}$$ m/s

Time taken = 72 seconds

Using, distance = speed $$\times$$ time

=> $$l=72\times\frac{65}{9}=520$$ m

=> Ans - (C)
