Question 159

A and B are two numbers. Six times square of B is 540 more than square of A. The ratio of A and B is 3 : 2. Find the number B?

Solution

As the ratio A:B is given as 3:2 , lets assume that A is 3y and B is 2y

It is given that 6$$(2y)^2$$ = 540 + $$(3y)^2$$

24$$(y)^2$$ - 9$$(y)^2$$ = 540

15$$(y)^2$$ = 540

$$(y)^2$$ = 36

y = 6

hence B = 2 y = 2 x 6 = 12
