Given : $$(x^2 + y^2) = 100$$ and $$xy = 48$$
Using $$(x + y)^2 = x^2 + y^2 + 2xy$$
=> $$(x + y)^2 = 100 + (2 \times 48)$$
=> $$(x + y) = \sqrt{100 + 96} = \sqrt{196} = 14$$
