Question 145

What is the respective ratio of the number of women to the total residents in Society E over the years?

Solution

Number of women in society E in :

2002 = $$\frac{40}{100} \times 220$$ = 88

2003 = $$\frac{65}{100} \times 240$$ = 156

2004 = $$\frac{50}{100} \times 250$$ = 125

2005 = $$\frac{45}{100} \times 220$$ = 99

2006 = $$\frac{50}{100} \times 240$$ = 120

2007 = $$\frac{40}{100} \times 260$$ = 104

=> Total women in society E = 88 + 156 + 125 + 99 + 120 + 104 = 692

Total residents in society E = 220 + 240 + 250 + 220 + 240 + 260 = 1430

$$\therefore$$ Required ratio = 692 : 1430

= 346 : 715
