Question 142

If sin $$x=\frac{1}{2}$$ and cos $$y=\frac{1}{2}$$, what is the value of sin(x+y)?

Solution

Given : $$sin x=\frac{1}{2}$$ and $$cos y=\frac{1}{2}$$

=> $$sin(x)=sin(30^\circ)$$

=> $$x=30^\circ$$

Similarly, => $$cos(y)=cos(60^\circ)$$

=> $$y=60^\circ$$

$$\therefore$$ $$sin(x+y)$$

= $$sin(30^\circ+60^\circ)=sin(90^\circ)=1$$

=> Ans - (D)
