Given below are two statements:
Statement I : The diamagnetic property depends on temperature.
Statement II : The induced magnetic dipole moment in a diamagnetic sample is always opposite to the magnetising field.
In the light of statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below
For Statement I:
Diamagnetic susceptibility ($$\chi$$) is independent of temperature because the underlying induction mechanism does not rely on aligning pre-existing magnetic dipoles against thermal agitation. Therefore, Statement I is false.
For Statement II:
According to Lenz's law, when a substance is placed in an external magnetising field, the induced magnetic dipole moment always opposes the applied field. Therefore, Statement II is true.
