Question 125

If a, b, c are positive and a+ b + c= 1, then the least value $$\frac{1}{a}+\frac{1}{b}+\frac{1}{c}$$ is

Solution

For 1/a to be minimum, a must be maximum.
Maximum value is obtained when a=b=c.
Let a= b =c= $$\frac{1}{3}$$
Thus $$\frac{1}{a}+\frac{1}{b}+\frac{1}{c}$$ = 9 (Option A)
