Question 118

Diameter of a cycle wheel is 14 cm. A cyclist takes 30 minutes to reach a destination at a speed of 11 km/h. How many revolutions will the wheel make during the journey?

Solution

Total distance covered by the cyclist = (1/2) x 11 = 5.5 kms

Given, diameter of a cycle wheel = 14cm

Circumference of the wheel = $$\pi$$D

$$\Rightarrow$$ (22/7) x 14 = 44 cm

Total revolution made by the wheel = $$\frac{5.5\ kms}{44\ cms}$$

$$\Rightarrow$$ $$\frac{5.5}{44}$$ x $$10^{5}$$ = $$\frac{5}{4}$$ x $$10^{4}$$

= 12,500

Hence, option A is the correct answer.
