The profile of gears having circular pitch of 52 mm and length of arc of contact is 80 mm. Determine the module (mm) and contact ratio of the gear profile?

Solution

Circular pitch $$(P_C)=52$$ mm

Length of arc of contact = $$80$$ mm

Now, circular pitch = $$\pi \times$$ module

=> Module = $$\frac{52}{3.14}=16.55$$

Also, Contact ratio = Arc of contact / Circular pitch

= $$\frac{80}{52}=1.54$$
