A can do $$\frac{2}{5}$$ of a work in 12 days while B can do $$66\frac{2}{3}\%$$ of the same workin 16 days. They work together for 10 days. B alone will complete the remaining work in:

Solution

Let total work to be done be 15 units

Now, A can do 6 units in 12 days, => A's efficiency = $$\frac{6}{12}=0.5$$ units/day

Similarly, B can do 10 units in 16 days, => B's efficiency = $$\frac{10}{16}=0.625$$ units/day

Let B alone complete the work in $$t$$ days.

=> $$(0.5+0.625)\times 10+0.625t=15$$

=> $$11.25+0.625t=15$$

=> $$t=\frac{3.75}{0.625}=6$$ days

=> Ans - (A)
