WBJEE Result 2026, Expected Date, Rank Card and Cutoff

The WBJEE 2026 result is one of the most anticipated announcements for engineering aspirants across West Bengal. Conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB), WBJEE 2026 was held offline on May 24, 2026, and the official answer key was released on May 27, 2026. Once the result is declared at wbjeeb.nic.in, candidates can download their rank card and use it for WBJEE 2026 counselling, the process that decides admission to engineering, technology, pharmacy, and architecture programmes across government and private colleges in West Bengal.

WBJEE Result 2026

The WBJEE Result 2026 is published as a rank card, not a pass or fail certificate. Every candidate who appears receives a rank, and that rank decides eligibility across the counselling process. A lower numerical rank gives access to more colleges and branches.

  • General Merit Rank (GMR): issued to candidates who appeared for both Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). The GMR is mandatory for admission to all engineering seats in government universities, under both the Home State and All India quotas, not just the Home State quota.
  • Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR): issued to candidates who appeared for Paper 2 only, used for pharmacy programme admissions.
  • JEE Main 2026 scoreholders can also join WBJEE counselling, but only for the 15% seats reserved for them in self-financing (private) colleges; they are not eligible for Home State government college quotas through this route.

Important: The 2025 WBJEE result was delayed until August 22, 2025, after the Calcutta High Court and later the Supreme Court intervened on the implementation of OBC reservation categories. June 2026 remains the likely window for the 2026 result, but candidates should stay prepared for a possible delay if similar legal questions resurface.

If two candidates obtain identical total marks, WBJEEB applies a fixed tie-breaking sequence: Mathematics marks are compared first, followed by combined Physics and Chemistry marks, and if the tie still persists, the older candidate is given the higher rank.

How to Check WBJEE Result 2026 Online

The result will be available only in online mode. No copy is sent by post, SMS, or any other channel. To check the result once declared, candidates should visit wbjeeb.nic.in, locate the WBJEE 2026 Result or Rank Card link on the homepage, and log in using their Application Number along with either their Password or Date of Birth, as per the WBJEEB portal design. The rank card will then appear on screen, showing the candidate's name, scores, and merit rank. After verifying every detail carefully, candidates should download and print at least two copies: one for personal records and one for counselling document verification.

If any error appears on the rank card, candidates must submit a physical representation to the WBJEEB office by the afternoon of the next working day after result declaration; no queries are accepted afterward. To obtain a calculation sheet showing how marks were derived, candidates must apply with a Demand Draft of exactly Rs. 500, payable at Kolkata in favour of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board, within 60 days of the result or until counselling ends, whichever is later.

Expected WBJEE 2026 Cutoff for Top Engineering Colleges

WBJEEB releases the official cutoff after every counselling round, showing the closing GMR at which the last seat in a college and branch was filled. The figures below are expected ranges for 2026, based on 2024 and 2025 official closing rank trends for the Home State General category, Round 2, Gender Neutral pool.

Jadavpur University figures above are illustrative reference points for Computer Science and core branches. WBJEE admits B.Tech students to state government and private colleges such as Jadavpur University, Calcutta University, Kalyani Government Engineering College (KGEC), and Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC). Institutes of National Importance such as IIEST Shibpur do not admit through WBJEE; they recruit strictly through JEE Main via JoSAA or CSAB counselling.

Among WBJEE-affiliated colleges, premier government institutes like KGEC and JGEC typically see CSE closing ranks in the 2,500 to 4,500 range, while Calcutta University CSE closes near 900 to 1,000 for the General category. Private colleges such as IEM Kolkata and Heritage Institute of Technology fill CSE seats in the 5,500 to 12,000 range, giving wider options to candidates outside the top government college cutoffs. A score between 130 and 150 out of 200 generally produces a rank under 2,000, sufficient for KGEC, JGEC, or Calcutta University, while scores between 90 and 110 typically yield ranks of 5,000 to 10,000, suitable for most private colleges. Candidates strengthening their Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics fundamentals for WBJEE can also benefit from the JEE Questions , which offers topic-wise practice aligned with both JEE Main and state-level entrance exam patterns.

What Happens After the WBJEE Result 2026?

Once the result is out, candidates move directly into WBJEE 2026 counselling, conducted entirely online through the WBJEEB portal. The process unfolds in clear stages:

  • Counselling Registration: qualified candidates register separately, pay the counselling fee, and upload scanned copies of the rank card, mark sheets, and category or domicile certificates.
  • Choice Filling and Locking: candidates list their preferred college and branch combinations in order of priority and lock them before the deadline; locked choices cannot be edited.
  • Seat Allotment Rounds: WBJEEB runs multiple rounds, allotting the best available choice based on rank; candidates can Accept and Freeze, Accept and Float for a better option, or Reject and re-enter choice filling.
  • Document Verification: candidates report to their allotted institute with original documents for physical verification within the specified deadline, failing which the seat is cancelled.
  • Admission Confirmation: after verification, candidates pay the institute fee to complete admission formalities and receive a provisional admission letter.

WBJEE Result 2026: Conclusion

The WBJEE Result 2026 is an important update for students seeking admission to engineering, technology, pharmacy, and architecture programmes in West Bengal. Since the result will be released as a rank card, candidates should keep their application number and login details ready. Once the result is declared, students must carefully check their marks, GMR, PMR, category, domicile status, and other details before downloading the rank card.

After the WBJEE 2026 result, the counselling process becomes the most important stage for admission. Candidates should study previous cutoff trends, compare colleges like Jadavpur University, Calcutta University, KGEC, JGEC, IEM Kolkata, and Heritage Institute of Technology, and prepare their choice filling list carefully. A well-planned counselling strategy can help students secure better branches and colleges based on their WBJEE rank.
