CAT 40 Days Preparation Plan 2025

It’s almost time for the CAT exam, October is half done, and entered the 3rd week, you have only 40 days. All you can do now is revise, practice mocks, and previous year CAT papers. As the exam nears, it's common to get anxious and nervous; to overcome them, confidence is a must. To enhance your confidence level and increase your percentile, consistent practice is necessary. It can feel like a race at the start, but once you get a hold nothing can stop you.

In these 40 days, focus on high-weightage topics, sectional improvement, and mock test analysis. Many aspirants have boosted their scores dramatically with focused preparation in the final stretch. Let’s look at how to make these CAT 40 days your most productive and score-boosting phase.

CAT 2025 Last 40 Days Strategy

Your 40-day CAT plan should be built on three strong pillars:

  • Concept Revision
  • Mock Practice
  • Error Analysis

The goal is to revise what you already know, strengthen weak areas, and improve test-taking accuracy. Avoid starting new topics now, focus instead on refining existing knowledge.

CAT 40 Days Preparation Strategy

This 40-day timeline focuses on steady improvement with increasing intensity every week. Each phase should balance revision, mock tests, and time-bound practice.

Go Crazy on Question Practice: Practicing a lot of questions should be the priority at this time as it is not the time to learn the whole new concepts. Just keep practicing whatever CAT study material that you find for practice such as sectionals, study room or mocks. At this time you should be solving at least 30-40 Quant questions, 2 LRDI sets and 3-4 RCs daily. If you can add 1 sectional to it, that would be great.

Build Concepts: Focus on the key points of each of the three sections for the first two to three weeks, if you are struggling to score in any section. Then move on to sectional tests and mocks. If you have strong fundamentals that would be enough to solve at least 7 questions in quant section. So, don't underestimate the power of basics.

CAT Previous papers: Solving CAT previous papers is one of the most important tasks that should start from today. Even if you have solved the papers earlier, solve them again for at least the last 4 years, especially the VARC section. It will boost your confidence.

CAT Mock Tests: During the first month, begin taking the CAT mock test twice a week and add one sectional test daily to your preparation plan. Increase it to two or three mocks every week in the second month. Allocate a good amount of time to analyse the mistakes and take note of all the mistakes. There is more to this step than merely practicing questions. Analyze them properly and make sure you make a notebook where you write your mistakes and go through it before giving the next mock test.

Practice Topic-Wise questions: We have made a PDF of selected questions that every serious CAT aspirant must solve. These questions are the best source of revision if you want to score well in the exam. There are various YouTube playlists available on the Cracku YouTube channel; you can watch them. They are very useful and thousands of students watch them for revision.

How to Prepare for CAT in 40 Days

CAT preparation in 40 days is all about high focus and topic prioritization. Instead of touching every concept, target frequently tested areas from each section.

Section

Important Topics

Focus Strategy

Quantitative Aptitude

Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Numbers

Revise formulas and solve 25–30 questions daily

Verbal Ability & RC

Reading Comprehension, Para Jumbles, Vocabulary

Read 3 RCs daily and practice 8–10 VA questions

LR & DI

Puzzles, Graphs, Venn Diagrams, Data Tables

Solve 2–3 sets daily under timed conditions

Note: Limit your material sources. Stick to concise online modules or topic quizzes for revision.

CAT 40 Days Section-Wise Strategy

Let’s break down how to optimize each section in the final 40 days.

  1. QA Strategy in the Last 40 Days:

Quant is all about speed and smart question selection. Focus on:

  • Revising Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Modern Math concepts.
  • Solving 30-40 questions daily from mixed topics.
  • Maintaining a formula notebook for quick recall.
  • Taking 2-3 sectional tests weekly to measure consistency.

Avoid spending long hours on new chapters. Instead, polish frequently asked topics and improve calculation speed.

DILR Strategy in the Last 40 Days:

DILR decides percentiles for many aspirants. Focus on:

    • Solving 2-3 DILR sets daily, one easy, one moderate, one tough.
    • Practicing Data Tables, Graphs, and Logical Puzzles.
    • Time for each set. Reduce your solving time gradually.
    • Analyze mistakes from every mock, note down common traps.

By the last week, aim to solve sets within 10-15 minutes with at least 80% - 90% accuracy.

VARC Strategy in the Last 40 Days:

VARC demands consistency and reading stamina.

      • Read 3 RCs daily from varied topics (editorials, science, abstract).
      • Practice Para Jumbles and Odd-One-Out from previous year sets.
      • Analyze the accuracy trend after each mock.

Reading daily not only boosts comprehension but also enhances time efficiency.

Common Mistakes to Avoid in the Last 40 Days

Even strong candidates lose marks due to small errors. Avoid these mistakes:

      • Don’t start new topics and get confused and stressed. Revision is all you need at this time.
      • Skipping mock analysis after every test is not at all a choice for students. It’s where real learning happens.
      • Overloading with new material or switching between books is not advised; stick to your foundation material and the notes you prepared.
      • Ignoring mental and physical rest. Fatigue kills accuracy. Your health is important, so take good care of yourself.
      • Not managing time during mocks only makes you stressed. Focus on selective solving. Take tips from your mentors.

A focused, consistent approach will yield far better results than a random high-intensity study.
