Find the missing number in the following series.
0, 2, 6, 12, ?, 30, ...
The differences between consecutive terms are 2, 4, 6, so the next difference is 8, giving $$12 + 8 = 20$$. Then $$20 + 10 = 30$$ confirms the pattern. Each term is also $$n(n + 1)$$ for $$n = 0, 1, 2, \ldots$$.
